The Washington Post: Opinion: Virginia’s move to end capital punishment has a major flaw

Virginia is on the verge of eliminating the death penalty. While this is cause for much celebration, the movement to abolish capital punishment has too often pushed for another form of the death penalty as a humane alternative: life without the possibility of parole.

In a recent op-ed for the Washington Post, The Sentencing Project’s Ashley Nellis explains why the “cruelty and immorality of the death penalty still live on as long as life without parole does.”
